Plex Ghosts of Servers Past

Featured Replies

Any ideas on how to get rid of these "ghosts" of servers no longer registered (removed from plex.tv site too). "Plex_Server" was my Windows install (disabled) and the other "Tower" ones are missteps (removed, reinstalled, etc) to getting it running properly.

I also have ghosts of web syncs stuck (files deleted off bitcasa, but persist in display). I know these are not specific to unRaid implementation of Plex but I can't get anyone to response on Plex forums. So much for "special" forums for plex pass holders lol.

You might try going to the Settings in Plex, then Devices. There you should be able to manually delete the old PMS instances. I'm not sure if the ghosts will disappear, but they might.

only have the one live server showing there.

What about going to plex.tv and clicking the Servers link at the top (after signing in)? If the other servers are showing there, you might be able to remove them.

did that (mentioned in my post above). Only showing the live one.

That's all I've got. Deleting the instances from the plex.tv/servers list should do what you want. Sounds like a bug to me.

Maybe someone else will have an idea.

Just noticed something that may be a clue. If I open Plex Server web GUI using IP address (default if invoked from docker page), it shows 2 ghost "Tower" servers (see pic in fist post). However, if I open the GUI using netbios name i.e., http://tower:32400/web/index.html#, only ONE ghost is listed. Don't know what it means but maybe help?

There are quite a few posts on the Plex forum about similar issues. It may seem overly simple, but you might try signing out/in of Plex/web and/or clearing your browser cache.

if you login to plex.tv and than go to servers it will list the servers you have attached to your login and you can delete old ones that are no longer in use.

And than they will no longer show up

been there done that. I mentioned it in the first post

(removed from plex.tv site too)

The only way to remove them (if they are not listed on plex.tv Server section) is to delete the Cache and Files from your Web browser.  The issue is that it download a special XML from Plex.tv and it doesn't update it well when we remove servers.  Deleting all Cookies, Cache, Temp for "*.Plex.tv" URL will reload a new copy of the XML and the Ghost servers won't reappear.

thanks it works. Just tested it by opening in a browser that has never seen the web GUI and all the old servers are gone as well as the orphaned sync movies.
