[SOLVED] New replacement drive failed

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I replaced a 1TB drive with a pre-cleared 3TB drive. When I set the new drive to the old and started the array, the drive threw some errors and was disabled. I tried to put the old 1TB back in, but unRAID tells me the disk must be equal or bigger than the original.

I know I can get a new 3TB drive and pre-clear it and put it in the array, but that will take some time. My array is running in an un-protected state, and I don't want to leave it that way very long. Is there any way to get the array to accept the old drive back into its original slot?

Thanks,

buzz

Record the serial numbers of the drives or take screenshots of unRAID main. Then use the New Config utility. Assign the desired disks and rebuild parity. Then do a parity check.

Thanks dgaschk!

Sorry for the delay in replying. Followed your instructions exactly and the array is once again protected, parity is checked and valid, and all data is intact!

Now to get another 3TB or more drive.
