Broke my Flash Drive - Opps

Featured Replies

Hey Everybody, I am running a 7 Drive system (1 Parity, 5 Data Disk, 1 Cache Disk) on UNRaid 6.0 Beta 10.

And... while moving my server... I completely Demolished my flash drive, (... I never claimed to be smart)

I've already contacted Tom to see if he would be nice enough to give me a new Key

Anyway Now my Problem:

I have two main shares that I care about, with apx 4TB of Data and they're Movies and TV Shows.

I wanted to ask for advice before I get the key from Tom, and try and repair this my self.

What is the best way to get the shares back, as the data was spread across 4 of the 5 data disk, with about 50GB on the Cache Drive, or is it possible.

I had no backup of my flash drive prior :(

The shares will be automatically recognized when you create a new configuration on your new flash drive.

Do you know for CERTAIN which drive was the parity drive and which was the cache?

If so, it's trivial -- just assign your drives and Start the array.

If not, it's still easy.  Assign all of the drives to your array as data drives, and see which is shown as "unformatted". (but do NOT format it)  That's the parity drive.    Assuming your cache drive was a smaller drive than the data drives, that should also be easy to identify.    Now do a New Config and assign only the data drives.    If you Start the array now, you should see all of your shares.

Finally, Stop the array and assign the parity and cache drives -- then Start the array and let it do a parity sync.

When that's done, do a parity check to confirm all is well -- and you're now ready to start reconfiguring the array with any add-ons, Dockers, etc. that you may have been using.
