Plex docker update to 0.9.10.3

Featured Replies

Probably an easy question to answer.  I recently installed the Plex docker through the available template, this is running Plex Server version 0.9.10.1.

I noticed today that they released 0.9.10.3, is there a way to manually update to this or do we have to wait for the Docker app author to update?

Plex for Xbox One and 360 is released tomorrow but needs 0.9.10.3 to run it.

Cheers

i am not at home right now, but i thought that if you clicked on the "tools" screen that there was an update button for each docker/plugin app.

Yeah there is but I just assumed that was for when the container was updated by the author and I'm not sure how long that usually takes. Also as I said it would be good to have it updated for tomorrow when the new app is released.

currently there is no update-function inside the plex docker. and plex for linux doesn't have an auto update (like the plex web interface).

what you can do (until needo updates the container):

change your plex docker on your unraid system and add an environment variable named "VERSION" and set the value to "0.9.10.3.665-c9109e2". after restarting the container, the new plex version will be downloaded

Thanks for the suggestion.

Just tried it by stopping the container, adding VERSION and 0.9.10.3.665-c9109e2, clicking apply and then trying to load the Plex web interface.  Slight problem in that the web interface would no longer load.

Could this have something to do with the version I am trying to upgrade to only being available to Plex Pass members (I am a member).  Forgive my ignorance but I have limited knowledge on how these docker containers find what they need to download the programs that they are running.

EDIT - scratch that.  I tried it again and it seems to have worked.  Much appreciated Benni-chan.

Yes, it's working to get 0.9.10.3, I did it too.

You just need to be patient because when you launch the Docker, it will have to download stuff from the internet before starting the web interface of the Plex Server, it's normal.

Honestly, I think this is how it should be.  The "official" unRAID docker should install the latest public version (or even a few versions old) and users who want to risk their data to betas should have to manually add the VERSION tag.  I am one of those people :) but I like to wait at least a week before upgrading.
