[SOLVED] Reverted to back to Plus Key - have Pro Key

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I did a restart on my UNRAID server today.  Clean shut down - no problems.  On boot up I lost all the assigned drive placements and I also lost my PRO Key settings.  My server dropped back to a 5 slot.  I readded the Pro Key - rebooted and I am still restricted.

Does anyone have any ideas on this.  First time I have hit this problem.

Thanks

You might want to check you have not got multiple .key files (possibly in the root of the flash and in the config folder).

There are no keys on the flash drive other then the pro key.

You could try putting the flash in a windows workstation and doing a check disk on it.

If that doesn't work,

I would suggest posting your syslog here.

Double check your FLASH GUID on unraid's screen vs what is in the syslog.

Then reach out to Tom directly via email.

Maybe something broke in the flash.

While you have it in a Windows Machine, do a search on the flash drive for '*.key'.  As I recall, the location of the .key file was changed somewhere in the version 5 development.  I also seem to recall that the first .key file found was used and which file (in the case of multiple files) used was not logical.  (example-- alphabetical or date.)

You almost certainly have multiple key files => if there was NO key file, it would have reverted to Basic, so it apparently found a Plus .key file and used that.  As Frank1940 noted, the logic was modified (I think in v5) so it uses the first .key file it encounters in the Config folder, so if you originally had a Plus key and upgraded to a Pro, but still have both on the flash drive, it is likely seeing the Plus key and stopping the search.  [Note:  the location of the key file hasn't changed ... it's still in the Config folder ... but the logic in looking for it was modified to stop looking when it saw the first .key file]

Ok - thanks for the help guys.  The problem has been fixed.

Stopped the Array

Removed the USB to a windows machine

On doing so it came up with a Disk Check

Completed Disk Check

(confirmed no presence of second key)

Back into Unraid Server

Booted and now back to normal with Pro slots

Thanks for your replies guys. It seems to have been a USB related error.

Glad it's resolved ... but VERY strange that it reverted to something other than Basic !!
