Can't restrict SMB shares, even array drives and cache (!?)

Featured Replies

Under 6b10a (pro) I have an array with 6 disks and a cache drive.

I have several shares that I access myself, but also have a User account that I intend to restrict to two shares.

Under AFP, no problem, the two shares show up and none others.

Under SMB, about a dozen shares show up, including all of what I would want to be private, as well as cache, and each disk of the array, disk1, disk2, etc.  I've set up all of the shares in SMB with "private" and "no access" but they show up with my user account.  Plus I don't see *any* way to control access to to the cache and array drives.  Certainly these drives are not directories in the root

Am I misunderstanding how to set up Shares or is something broken?

By show up do you mean you can see the shares, or you can access the content of them?

From the main web page, click on each disk and check its share settings.

YES!  Thanks, I had forgotten that we have access to disk (not just share) settings.

It's funny that the default for AFP is noExport and SMB is yesExport.  Fixed now, thanks very much.
