March 28, 200917 yr Can some one expain how Unraid deletes files? Is the space not all free once the file is gone. Reason I ask is that I deleted a 39gig file from a disc, then I tried to copy a 32gig file to the same disc and it tells me that I am 850meg sort of having space for the file.
March 28, 200917 yr It emulates a WORM drive - deletes don't free any space. ;) Just kidding - no idea why that would happen. Are you using user shares? Perhaps the file was deleted from a different disk. The file you deleted may still be open by another process. In that case, the file will stay around until it is closed / released by the other process. A reboot would clear this out and should free the space. The final thought is that your 32G may have been a sparse file and actually not consuming that much space.
March 28, 200917 yr or the 39 Gb file was on let's say disk 2 but unraid try to write the new one in disk 1 and disk 1 hasn't enought space. Search for "split level" for more information about this problem.
March 28, 200917 yr Author This was no on a user share, I was working in the disc directly. I will have to try a reboot and see where that will get me.
