October 27, 201411 yr Hi, I had a drive paying around for a while, that I thought had a bunch of media files on it. I don't have any slots left on my unraid server, so I attached the drive (1TB) via USB to my W8 PC. The drive reads as being empty (923free/931GB). Is that the final word, should I assume that it is indeed empty ? Is there any other check that I can perform ? Thanks.
October 27, 201411 yr Are you using any utility on your Win 8 computer which can read a Reiser Formatted Disk? This is one that has been recommended in the past. http://yareg.akucom.de/ I have not personally used it because I haven't had the need so far...
October 27, 201411 yr Agree it's likely a good disk, but has a format that Windows doesn't "understand." Try looking at the disk with a Linux IFS (installable file system). I prefer this one: http://www.diskinternals.com/linux-reader/
