October 28, 201411 yr Hi On the web site under the support tab there is a guide on how to install unraid but there's nothing about how to configure it. have I missed something? Should there not be a guide on how to set up the system? Can anyone point me in the direction of a guide? What are you wanting to configure specifically, once the key has been prepared and the system has been set to boot of the unraid key the system is live. From there the basic settings are really quite intuitive. Navigating to the settings page will allow you to change the ip address to a static address and change the name of the system. Past that it's really create your shares under the shares button and away you go. Have a look at the manual, it will step you though how certain things work which might help. http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php?title=UnRAID_Manual http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Getting_Started_with_unRAID I think you should just have a play and you'll pick it up it's quite easy. I seriously doubt anyone is going to sit down and write you a respond on how to setup your unraid environment in response to this post. In future I recommend you also be quite specific for any future questions you have, as this will field you the quickest answer. I don't mean to come across harsh but yeah i just wanted to set expectations this isn't exactly an out of the box product like other nas systems in terms of guides etc.
October 28, 201411 yr Hi - You posted this in the unRAID 6 section, but unRAID 6 is still beta software so things like formal guides aren't fully up to speed yet. Assuming you may be interested in unRAID 5, the current production release, here is what I found helpful: http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/UnRAID_Wiki http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Configuration_Tutorial I'd consult the user contributed material as much as the official information, and in particular you should look at the Un-Official UnRaid Manual, linked in the UnOfficial Documentation. It's unbelievably helpful . FYI, you don't need to do everything in the Configuration Tutorial - you can just add disks to the array and get started. For the moderately technical, though, there's a lot of great tips in the Tutorial.
October 29, 201411 yr Author thanks. Sorry for posting in the wrong forum. Actually it was a manual I was looking for. I couldnt see one linked on the main page. I was really looking for a quick set up guide . Initially I dont want to read the whole manual that goes into a lot of detail that to be fair, i wont need intially or more to the point , understand. If Lime Tech dont have one, are there any easy to read set up guides out there ? I'm sure there must be some guide written by a user that doesnt assume a lot of tech knowledge and is for idiots. What Im saying is that I want to get the system up and running and then learn about it, rather than the other way round, if that makes sense.

Thats it, it looks full on but if your read through it there not that much to it. Read it twice and then follow it through You can't really have a guide that skips steps like pre_clear and setup of email notification, lol not unless you don't care about data loss.
