Problem adding new drive

Featured Replies

Trying to add a brand new drive to my array. I pre-cleared it successfully, then attempted to add it to my array using the web interface. It appears to work at first, but has now been displaying 'Started, formatting...' for 30 days.. don't think it's ever going to finish at this rate, lol. Screenshot:

During this time I've been able to access my shares and files on the array without any issues

I attached a copy of my syslog, I believe I tried to add the disk around october 1st

You may want to set your transmission program to not log as much. It makes the syslog rather crowded.

It appears to me that your disk added just fine, but the dynamix webgui is causing display and control issues. Can you browse the new disk using mc in a console or telnet session?

Jonathan,

Thank you for the response. Yes I can browse the disk in mc just fine, in fact it has content on it already. Maybe I should just go ahead and powerdown and reboot?

I modified transmission to only log errors.

Thanks!

Yes, at this point I think I'd manually stop all your extra programs running on the server, and follow the wiki directions to safely shutdown from the command line. If you can get the array to stop, you should be ok when you start back up. Worst case it will want to do a correcting parity check on startup. If it does, let it complete.

Powered down and back on and the array came back up with the new drive working. Thanks!
