SOLVED: HELP! Original Drive Missing...New Drive not showing

Featured Replies

My UNRAID has been running flawlessly for over a year. I never fool around with it. We had a power outage and things started going whacky.

I replaced my flash drive entirely (physically and OS) with a backup. Didn't help.

I have FOUR drives in the UNRAID. One parity, and three data. Parity, Drive 1 and Drive 2 are showing up and working OK. I can still access data on them. The third drive just went missing after the power outage (if that was indeed the cause). It shows up in the BIOS and even in the Syslog, but does not mount or appear anywhere in the GUI. I thought the drive may have went bad, so I sent it back to WD and just got a new one. Plugged it in and nothing. Same results.

The new drive S/N ends in 2530. I see that UNRAID sees it in the Syslog but doesn't mount it.

I am pulling my hair out with this one. I have been troubleshooting for weeks on my own . Did a reiserfsck and fix. No joy.

My Syslog is attached...I am at a complete loss...HELP!

syslog.txt

The syslog shows that it is only detecting a "Basic" registration key, which is the free one which supports 3 drives .... Parity and 2 data.

From your description you stated that you had replaced the flash drive ..... Purchased licenses are "locked" to the serial number of the flash drive;  so if you have changed the flash drive your license key will no longer be working and it will default to the free license.

I would suggest that you try with a clean install on your original flash drive, ensuring that you place a copy of your purchased license in the config folder.

If you need to have your license transferred to a new flash drive you have to contact LimeTech support and arrange to have the license re-issued for the new flash drive.

A-ha! That makes sense as I did have a paid upgrade.

If I do a clean OS install on the original Flash drive I used, will the data on my drives be effected? I would assume that the shares I have setup would be blown out with a fresh OS install.

I just don't want to lose any data for obvious reasons!

You will not lose your data...  Print out your current settings.  After you boot with the new install (I will assume you are using ver 5.0.6 or ver 6.0beta), check to make sure that your current parity and cache drives are the parity and cache drives with the new OS install.  The latest versions really don't care which data drives are assigned to which disk X numbers.  You are correct in that you will lose the share information but that is quickly reconstructable.
