Connection loss on Unraid 6beta10

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I have been experiencing issues with my server lately (all started when I moved from my old flat to my new one, the setup stayed the same).

The server looses it's connection after about 10 hours running. I cannot access the WebGUI, can't telnet into the server or the VMs. I am forced to hard reboot the server every time with the obligatory Parity Check. There is no consistency in the connection losses. I'll start up the array in the morning, it will work fine all day and be down when I come home from work. Obviously, I don't have any logs since the server is headless and I have to hard reboot after the crash.

From my searches in the forums, I understand that this could be due to faulty memory. I am going to run a memtest tonight and see what gives but I doubt it is the issue because I have swaped the memory already and have the same issue on two different pairs of RAM sticks.

Could this be related to a BIOS setting ? Sleep ?

I am also going to plug a monitor today to get some logs but wanted to open a thread and have your opinions on where the problem might come from. I will update with logs and memtest results soon.

Thanks !

Tom

A couple thoughts.

1. Network. You say you moved, did your router, switch and wires come with you, or are they different? Try unplugging the network cord and plugging it back in the next time it's unresponsive.

2. You moved it. Did you check to make sure the CPU heatsink didn't get dislodged? I've seen similar issues with a heatsink that is not properly attached.

Thanks for the reply !

1- Network

All the equipment is the same so that should not be an issue. Will try reconnecting the cable next time.

2- CPU Heatsink

I did change the CPU, that could be it. Will check tonight and let you know.

Cheers,

Tom
