November 8, 201411 yr Hi, I've been using the free version of unraid for a while, and have an apps drive mounted to run sabnzb, sickbeard, plex etc. I've purchased the plus version so I can expand my array, and have users and get a spare key for v6 testing later down the track. I just realised I can now assign a cache drive. I'm just wondering how I go about doing this. Can I just assign my apps drive as the cache drive or will that erase it? I assume I'll have to update all the plugins to the cache (different drive letter?). I don't really want to have to set up all these plugins again, I have them running nice and smoothly and I don't want to rock the boat!
November 8, 201411 yr I'd leave everything exactly as is. If you want the cache drive function to allow full speed unprotected writes to your shares, add a cache drive, but leave your app drive alone. Many of the issues people have setting up plugins come from forgetting to exclude the folders they put on the cache drive from being moved to the array, and it kills their plugins. You don't have to worry about that with your separate app drive.
