November 8, 201411 yr Hi, I've been having no end of trouble setting up a NAS box with unraid (see: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=36153.0) . All my hardware (see sig) is new but I suspect one of my hdd is in trouble. Finally I decided the preclear my three 2tb hdd's. I'm in the disk pre-read process with all three at the moment. Two of the drives are reading well above 100mb/s but the third is reading at about 15mb/s. Obviously I'll wait for the preclear to finish but presumably this looks like a drive that is failing/preforming badly? Does that seem like a fair conclusion?
November 8, 201411 yr Yes it does. I would tend to abandon the preclear on that drive and investigate further. It may just be a cabling issue (SATA/Power) rather than the drive itself. The sort of errors being shown in the syslog may give a clue. Also a SMART report for the drive makes sense.
