November 13, 201411 yr I just wanted to ask Needo if he could update his Deluge Docker to the newest version, but i cant find the right thread to ask him. Could we create a unique thread for each available docker?! Would make such requests and troubleshooting way easier.... Maybe a subforum for just these threads aswell? Cheers
November 13, 201411 yr I just wanted to ask Needo if he could update his Deluge Docker to the newest version, but i cant find the right thread to ask him. And NZBGet.
November 13, 201411 yr Deluge is installed using the regular package manager in need's Dockerfile so if you want to update just remove the container and image and reinstall. That is, if it is updated within Ubuntu it will update apt-get install -qy deluged deluge-web unrar unzip p7zip
November 13, 201411 yr For NZBGet you can run his container with the Edge option. See his notes here: https://registry.hub.docker.com/u/needo/nzbget/

November 13, 201411 yr Author Thanks pinion! Still, doesn't change anything with my initial request. We now have valid information in yet another thread that gets buried....
November 14, 201411 yr ... Could we create a unique thread for each available docker?! Would make such requests and troubleshooting way easier.... ... I would tend to agree but currently its up to the container devs to decide how it works best for them i.e. its not for us to force how we think they should work Once we are out of beta for sure we need to sort this out. User should not have to read the forum at all to understand specific containers and we need documentation. Unfortunately the official wiki is broken and cant be used but this is where it should be. The difference between a good project and a great project is community and documentation. We have one and not the other
November 14, 201411 yr Author Wiki and documentation makes sense. But I also think a thread for each docker for update requests, general discussion and troubleshooting would be handy. But don't want to force anyone to anything!
November 14, 201411 yr I don't think it's really going to matter until UnRaid officially supports these. And by official support I mean someone on the LimeTech payroll is going to have to be responsible for the docker containers and not someone who is volunteering their time to create something for the community. It's like NAS said, it's currently up to the container dev to manage it right now but when it's officially rolled out I think someone at LT should maintain the most popular ones. Until that happens any user who cares enough to want the latest and greatest version of some software they're using with docker would do well to learn how to create their own Dockerfiles and know the ins and outs of the command line utilities.
November 14, 201411 yr I mean someone on the LimeTech payroll is going to have to be responsible for the docker containers i might be wrong but i dont see that ever happening, it would be too much work for LT to take on, sure they should create and maintain a base image and allow docker dev's to build on that but i dont think your ever going to get to a point where LT directly maintain and support docker images for apps (sab, cp, sb etc), and in my personal opinion I would prefer LT to concentrate on doing what they do, which is develop unraid, but thats just me

We may directly support some containers in the future but I can guarantee SAB, CP, and NZB (and others like them) will not be among them for rather obvious reasons. In addition, we are not the only company that leverages community provided apps. This has become a common trend nowadays and not only in the storage industry.

I think the point I was trying to make was that we shouldn't get too upset when community devs don't give us 100% of what we want and we can't hold LimeTech to the fire for that because it's not their fault. The point of unRaid is to be a storage server and it's awesome that it's been expanded to allow the community to hook in and do some really cool stuff. Anyway, I apologize and think I've derailed the OPs topic.
