madiusmax Posted November 14, 2014 Share Posted November 14, 2014 Looking for a little advice on this combination of motherboard and CPU for an unRAID setup and a VM Windows setup for PlayOn only. No transcoding will be done on this server as it will be simply to server media and backup. I believe both are capable of virtualization so any advice on the best method to do so would be greatly appreciated as well. Edit: Just to clarify my "question,' is will this combination be powerful enough, with no future plans to expand or contain other VMs. Thank you in advance! Quote Link to comment
sgibbers17 Posted November 14, 2014 Share Posted November 14, 2014 The g3220 does not support Vt-d. If you are not going to be using PCIe pass through it will work but may be slow. If you are going to do any VMs I would recommend a i3 or better and if you need PCIe pass through you need a MB and CPU that supports Vt-d. Quote Link to comment
