Are the hot swappable drives fixed? ie: if you're not using all 20, can you convert one to a normal 5.25" bay slot?  I wanted to know if I could put an IDE optical drive in rather than buy a new slim drive for that case.

    no you wont be able to put an IDE optical drive in there. the racks are only mm larger than a drive width wise
