Will this motherboard handle a 6TB Drive?

Featured Replies

I have an older mb, the ASUS P5PL2 M, http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5PL2/specifications/.

I was thinking of upgrading some of my drives to the new WD Red 6TB drives but not sure if my mb would recognize it.  If I buy the drive and can't use it, I would have to return it but pay a restocking fee which I would rather avoid.  I have no other use for the drive outside of my array, so thought I would check if anyone might have the answer.

Yes, it should without issue. There was a barrier at 2TB ages ago, but any MB that recognizes >2TB disks (which should be any MB in the last 10+ years) will handle any larger size drive as well.

My P5B handles them fine.
