November 25, 201411 yr Hi, I am having trouble installing Plex using the Plugin. There seems to be a problem downloading one of the files. Here is the console info. =============================== Tower login: root Password: Linux 3.9.11p-unRAID. root@Tower:~# ls mdcmd* powerdown@ samba@ root@Tower:~# cd boot -bash: cd: boot: No such file or directory root@Tower:~# cd /boot root@Tower:/boot# ls System\ Volume\ Information/ make_bootable.bat* preclear_reports/ bzimage* memtest* preclear_results.txt* bzroot* menu.c32* readme.txt* config/ packages/ syslinux.cfg* ldlinux.sys* plugins/ syslinux.exe* license.txt* preclear_disk.sh* unmenu/ root@Tower:/boot# cd plugins root@Tower:/boot/plugins# ls plex-media-server_mod.plg* tvheadend_mod.plg* webGui-latest.plg* root@Tower:/boot/plugins# installplg plex-media-server_mod.plg installing plugin: plex-media-server_mod file /boot/config/plugins/plex/PlexMediaServer-0.9.6.1.89-3c84bb7-unRAID.tar.bz 2: downloading from http://plex-downloads.s3.amazonaws.com/0.9.6.1/Releases/Linux-Slackware-131-i386/PlexMediaServer-0.9.6.1.89-3c84bb7-unRAID.tar.bz2 ... 2014-11-25 14:08:03 URL:http://plex-downloads.s3.amazonaws.com/0.9.6.1/Releases/Linux-Slackware-131-i386/PlexMediaServer-0.9.6.1.89-3c84bb7-unRAID.tar.bz2 [51447083/51447083] -> "/boot/config/plugins/plex/PlexMediaServer-0.9.6.1.89-3c84bb7-unRAID.tar.bz2" [1] success file /boot/config/plugins/plex/pms_48px.png: downloading from http://plex.spidisoft.de/pms_48px.png ... wget: unable to resolve host address `plex.spidisoft.de' bad download, deleting root@Tower:/boot/plugins# ============== Any ideas please? Edit I have done some more research and found I was using an outdated plugin. I should have used the plugin developed by Phaze. However before I found the Phaze plugin I had installed Plex (successfully), using what I would call a manual method I found on the Plex Forum. This is the process I used. 1) Download the latest PMS from http://www.plexapp.com/getplex/ 2) Browse to you "flash" share and place the newly downloaded .pkg file in "extra" folder 3) At the same time i would download the plex updater and place the .plg file in the "/config/plugins' folder 4) Reboot server 5) In WebUI browse to "shares" and create a new one called "apps" a ) If you have the paid version of unRAID set use cache disk to "only" b ) If you have the free version of unRAID set the disk to disk1 only (for example) 6) In WebUI browse to "settings" and you should see 2 new icons, one for plex, one for updater 7) Click on plex and you are presented with two fields and an enable button a ) If you have the paid version of unRAID set the library directory to: /mnt/cache/apps/Plex and the Temp directory to: /mnt/cache/apps/Plex/Temp b ) If you have the free version of unRAID set the library directory to: /mnt/disk1/apps/Plex and the Temp directory to: /mnt/disk1/apps/Plex/Temp Set enable to "yes" 9) Browse to your plex/web: ipaddress:32400/web/ 10) Enjoy! It has worked but I assume I don't have the update feature provided by the Phaze plugin. I have read the post from Phaze on updating to his latest plugin. From what I can see I should be able to follow his process and install his plugin and reboot with Plex installed and retain my library settings. I did not install the Plex updater. Can you please advise if I am correct. Lesson learned. Do more research before jumping in.
November 25, 201411 yr In this section, look for my PhAzE Plugins thread. Install my plex plugin. That will solve it, and you don't have to worry about any plex updater plugin as mine is an all in one. You also don't need to download the txz from plex website as my plugin will do that for you automatically.
November 26, 201411 yr Yes follow those instructions and you can keep your library. When ever an update for Plex comes or you will see I big blue update button on the GUI to put on the latest version. Happy plexing!
December 2, 201411 yr Author Hi Is seems the plugin updater is not working for me. Here is the relevant syslog data. Any help is greatly appreciated.
December 2, 201411 yr plugin updater? my plugin has no plugin updater, that's for the old plex plugin by some other guy. If you have the PhAzE Plex plugin installed, it's got it's own built in update feature for the plugin and the app. When an update is available, a big blue button will show. EDIT: I miss read, you may mean when you press update on the plugin it doesn't update. That log unfortuantely doesn't have enough info, but that simplex error usually means a bad plugin download.
December 2, 201411 yr Author Thanks for your prompt response. I have your plugin and it installed Plex perfectly. I did have an earlier plugin installed and thought I removed it, but obviously not. I will do some research and see if I can work out what other bits I need to remove.
December 6, 201411 yr Author I had some difficulty remove the old plugin so just re-installed unRAID 5.0.6. and used your plugin. The plugin loaded fine but when I go to Settings and try to install Plex I get an error message. "Failed to download Plex install file. Aborting installation"
