November 29, 201411 yr Hi All, I have just managed to install a Windows 7 VM, following GHunter's walk through http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=34844.0 I want to set up a PLEX Server, plus SAB, SB and CP within Windows and want them to be able to access my unRAID shares. My question is, is there a way to configure the VM / Windows, so Windows can gain direct access to the shares, without having to connect to them as if through a network (this seems to bottleneck the connection speed). Sorry if thats a really obvious question, but i'm still a basic unRAID user and a noob to VMs. Thank you, Rich
December 1, 201411 yr Rich, I think the feature you are asking about is 9P which is only available using KVM and Linux VM's. There is no Windows equivalent. What is your Ethernet adapter speed? You should be at 10Gbps if your motherboard supports VT-D and you have the Windows GPLPV drivers installed. Gary
December 14, 201411 yr Author Thanks for the reply Gary, after some speed monitoring, i do get decent speeds. I also asked because I discovered that mapped drives did not reconnect after a reboot because windows 7 didn't connect to the network quick enough after boot, so the mapped drives didn't reconnect due to the paths not being available. Also sickbeard isn't able to access mapped drives Thankfully i've been able to edit the registry to allow sickbeard to directly access mapped network drives... not perfect but it seems to work and i've also found a script to use to delay mapped drives reconnecting. Obviously this would all just work if the shares were visible to the windows VM as physical drives, but i've managed to find a solution
