Presumably, if you installed the forked .plg file, you will have to uninstall / reinstall as the plg points to a different github address.

You would need to uninstall the forked version and install this version.

Uninstall and re-install.  The repositories are different between Alex R. Berg and bonienl and the bonienl version will not be detected.

I think that someone else should also pipe in on this ;)

I have a question with the S3 Sleep plugin.  The issue I have is when I set it to “Wait for array inactivity” “Yes, exclude cache”  It still refuses to go to the sleep mode.  I noticed, on the main page with all drives spun down a Temp for one or more of the drives stays and doesn’t turn to *.  Could this be why the system thinks it still up and not inactive? Preventing it from going to sleep.

Any thoughts would be helpful.

Had the same troubles with it and modified it by myself:

@bonienlI dont know if that was ever fixed but would be interested in the info.

Ok. How do you know which one you’re downloading from CA? The only one I see says “Author: bergware”. Is the the alex r berg version or the bonienl version?🤔

Coincidence in the name, but Bergware is the name under which I (bonienl) release the dynamix plugins.

I can send you all back there, by updating my plugin. And actually another time we could switch everybody the other way, it it looks like I might be doing several updates in a row to fix something.

bonienl is there anyway I can contact you that would speed up that process, besides posting here?

I have been having issues with the System Temp plugin. The drivers are displayed, but the temps are not (they were working prior to updating to 6.6.5, but I updated it because the System AutoFan plugin was not working on 6.6.2 (it did not list any controllers, it does on 6.6.5).

Also, I would like to suggest some features in AutoFan:

A) Select not just disk temps but other system temps (maybe hook into System Temp for this?)

B) Be able to select more than one controller/fan at a time

C) If possible, have a "Identify" feature that spins up a selected fan so I can see/feel which fan it is.

Testing with a 1950x on a Desginare X399

You can type 'k10temp' manually, then click Save, then Load drivers. Worth a try?

Sensors.png.f39fcb68dc1c29828e1fb5fbdbc97e53.png

So initially clicking on Detect didn't do anything.

typing Sensors or k10temp into the field allows the plugin to pull in the temps. But, only two sensor readings.

I have the latest bios installed for the Desginare X399.

watch sensors

It should show you the Tdie and Tctl temperatures.

This command worked.

Output:

But I do not know what those sensors reading from.

I do have three (3) wire temperature sensors that I attached to the motherboard that come with the Designare X399. Loading into the bios when I have a monitor attached, you can see all the temperature readings and fan readings. Just wished there was a way to get all of this data inside Unraid since I am running headless.

Also is this relevant?:

Description
-----------

This driver permits reading of the internal temperature sensor of AMD
Family 10h/11h/12h/14h/15h/16h/17h processors.

All these processors have a sensor, but on those for Socket F or AM2+,
the sensor may return inconsistent values (erratum 319). The driver
will refuse to load on these revisions unless you specify the "force=1"
module parameter.

Due to technical reasons, the driver can detect only the mainboard's
socket type, not the processor's actual capabilities. Therefore, if you
are using an AM3 processor on an AM2+ mainboard, you can safely use the
"force=1" parameter.

There is one temperature measurement value, available as temp1_input in
sysfs. It is measured in degrees Celsius with a resolution of 1/8th degree.
Please note that it is defined as a relative value; to quote the AMD manual:

Tctl is the processor temperature control value, used by the platform to
control cooling systems. Tctl is a non-physical temperature on an
arbitrary scale measured in degrees. It does _not_ represent an actual
physical temperature like die or case temperature. Instead, it specifies
the processor temperature relative to the point at which the system must
supply the maximum cooling for the processor's specified maximum case
temperature and maximum thermal power dissipation.

The maximum value for Tctl is available in the file temp1_max.

If the BIOS has enabled hardware temperature control, the threshold at
which the processor will throttle itself to avoid damage is available in
temp1_crit and temp1_crit_hyst.

Report Findings:

  • Dynamix Auto Fan Control is incompatible with the Threadripper 1950x running on a Gigabyte Designare X399.
  • Only the CPU Temperatures are detected by Sensors command.
    • This is after performing sensors-detect command and saying YES to all the prompts.

The k10temp module only reads the processor's onboard sensor. Hence Tdie. Tctl is the same as Tdie but with an offset of +27 degrees C for some processors. If you want to read motherboard temperature and fan speed sensors you need a module for your particular Super I/O chip.

Is there a benefit to the ~+27 C for some processors?

I thought I shared a screenshot from the terminal showing the "four" temperature readings.

Regardless, thank you for the informative response @John_M

Tctl is used by the motherboard to control the cpu fan. Here's the best explanation I can find:

Quote

it may be offset on certain CPU models so that all models on the AM4 Platform have the same maximum tCTL value. This approach ensures that all AMD Ryzen™ processors have a consistent fan policy.

Threadripper uses a +27°C offset. So average temp of the dies is 43°C but to make sure fans are running 'fast enough', fan curves should use the 70°C mark.

You wouldn't believe if I told ya, that I asked for this about 5 years ago.
But, well, no, there is no such page yet.

Edit:

Okay, it's not 5 years - I was guessing yesterday night. It's almost 4 years.

IIRC there must be another similar post but I'm lazy...

I'm not sure if there is an API that you could use. o.O
@jbrodriguez is developing the ControlR app for Android. I guess he can tell how to pull data from the GUI.
