Another Quick Question -New Drive

Featured Replies

Hello Everyone.

I have another quick question.

I'm adding a new drive to my array (12th and the same size as my parity). It will be the 4th dedicated drive in my Movies share (using the Include field in share settings). I want to move files from the nearly full drives to the new drive. Is it better to add data first, or add it to the share?

I've read enough forum posts lately, about too many topics, that they'er merging together in my head.

Thanks

The order is probably irrelevant.

The one thing to watch out for is make sure that when moving files you only do it between disk shares.  You must not use a mixture of a user share and a disk share in the same copy command or you will almost certainly experience data loss.
