December 4, 201411 yr Hi all, I know in 5.05 when I added a drive to the array and it was pre-cleared before adding it, it took only a minute or two and the array was up and running. I have noticed in 6 Beta 6 v12 when adding a drive it clears the drive (possibly due to using the XFS file system?) and this takes the array offline while it does the clearing which can be close to 8 hours for a 4tb drive. Do I have to worry about anything like this in 5.06? This is my main box at present and having it offline for a long period of time will upset my significant other Thoughts? Patrick
December 4, 201411 yr What version of the preclear script did you use for the drive you added in the beta system? Did the preclear show successful before you added the drive? If unraid does not recognize a valid preclear signature on the drive, it will clear it and keep the array offline like you observed.
December 4, 201411 yr Author I used the pre-clear from the pre-clear thread. It said it completed successfully (37 hours to complete). There were no errors reported.

That periodically gets updated so the version you have depends on when you picked it up from there. There was a bug in one of the recent versions where a pre-clear signature was not correctly recognised if run under v6 of unRAID so it is critical that you have the latest release. You can get the version by running the script with the -v option.
