Need help with first time boot

Featured Replies

Hi, i ordered a  preconfigured usbkey unraid around 1.5 years ago, and never got around using it,anyway i just tried and have a problem.

first i can't boot, the following msg is:

syslinux 3.51 2007-06-10 cbios copyright 1994-2007 h.peter anvin

could not find kernel image: linux

so i tried to to use another usb key and tried the 3disk free version, followed the  instructions and it booted fine,so

Can i just copy all the files over to my preconfigured usb-key that already has my keyfile on it?

or could i format the preconfigred usb card install unraid, and then copy over my "pro.key" file are there any other files that i would have to copy over?

thanks

If you purchased a key than the key is bound to the ID number (GUID) of that particular USB stick.  You cannot use that key with any other USB stick.  You could re-prepare the old stick, and copy the pro.key file to that stick and it will work and recognize your license.

yes thats what i was planning, copy the contents of the usb card to my harddrive, format the card, put on the latest edition of unraid, then copy the pro.key file back to the card. Just wanted to make sure that was ok, before i did it

hope you find solution (I don't have anything to say to help)

I find it really weird that you bought this 1.5 years ago (!) and haven't even tried booting it

worked like a charm, just reformated, installed unraid, copied my key over and it worked fine, not sure why it didnt work from limetech.

there's nothing strange about not using something when you buy it. when i bought unraid, i still didnt have my server built for a couple months, then it was a combination of never having enough disks available and being lazy. But im taking fate into my owsn hands now with around 10tb of data, and i havent had a drive failure in years, so one is due
