April 11, 200917 yr Getting the error that /usr/bin/mail does not exist. How can I send these notifications to my gmail address? I have a /root/.forward set up, but I dont see how this would be able to work out of the box.
April 11, 200917 yr I downloaded the nc-1.1 package, then use the mail script found here on the forum somewhere ( attached it) and do this in my go2 script. installpkg /boot/packages/nc-1.10-i386-1.tgz cp /boot/config/mail /usr/bin/mail sed -i -e "s/SYSADMIN=root/[email protected]/" /etc/apcupsd/offbattery sed -i -e "s/SYSADMIN=root/[email protected]/" /etc/apcupsd/onbattery sed -i -e "s/SYSADMIN=root/[email protected]/" /etc/apcupsd/commok sed -i -e "s/SYSADMIN=root/[email protected]/" /etc/apcupsd/commfailure sed -i -e "s/SYSADMIN=root/[email protected]/" /etc/apcupsd/doshutdown
April 12, 200917 yr Author gmail requires username & password + secure mail. how can I do this without username & password?
April 12, 200917 yr Author We have comcast though. smtp.comcast.net on port 25 seems to respond. Maybe it doesnt require auth for users on the network.
April 12, 200917 yr BubbaRaid uses the unraid_notify script.... NOT user/bin/mail. The scripts for APCUPSD on BubbaRaid do the same.
April 14, 200917 yr Ok, I think we got the apcups emails working. However, I got one email yesterday and one today, both said, "Tower Communications with UPS restored", and were sent about the same time of day. I have not loss power nor did I get an email saying communication was ever lost. I'm just not sure what these two emails I did get mean. It is looking like I will get one each day. Are they simply status emails that go out once a day? The subject is a bit missleading being I never lost power or communication with my UPS. I haven't tested pulling the power plug on my ups yet, but will do that soon to ensure it sends the email and does a safe powerdown. Thanks
April 15, 200917 yr I still want to understand these emails......here is what I get a couple times a day... April 15, 200917 yr Sounds like the communications to the UPS is intermittent to me. I do not get similar messages. Joe L.
April 16, 200917 yr hum, not sure how to troubleshoot that. I had this same cable/ups plugged into my xp box, with no issues. here is the log output from the tower, APC UPS monitoring daemon log file (/var/log/apcupsd.events) Sun Apr 12 13:09:58 GMT+8 2009 Communications with UPS restored. Wed Apr 15 10:59:14 GMT+8 2009 Communications with UPS restored. Wed Apr 15 19:18:48 GMT+8 2009 Communications with UPS restored. what can I check? Could it be a config file setting? Thanks
