How two connect a usb printer to my server?

After I plugged in the usb cable, what do i need to do to get in contact with the printer?

    I am far from a plugin/app/customization expert but I'm pretty certain that this would entail a good deal of effort.  There was some work done with a CUPS (https://www.cups.org/) plugin in the past but looks like that project is dead.

     

    Others will need to chime in.
