Help with User Level security shares

Featured Replies

First of all i have a purchased copy of unraid running 4.5 beta3.

Suppose we have a share called Movies for which we want everyone on the network to be able to read, but only larry can read/write:

    Export mode: Export read-only

    Exceptions: larry

This is what I want to accomplish. This is what i have done:

- Enabled user level security for user shares

- Created user "larry" along with a few others.

- Created user share movies with export read-only access and added larry to the exception list.

The problem is whenever I try to map a network drive in windows XP, i cannot log in as larry. I looked at the logs and it doesn't say anything whenever i try to log in as larry.

What's going on here?

Does windows give you a login dialog, or does it just give you immediate access?

No login dialog when I access the folder through windows explorer. So i tried to map the network drive and there is an option there where you can login with a different username/password.

anybody?

To clear out any saved Windows login credentials, open a command window (on your Windows PC) and type:

  net use /delete *

Then try to reconnect to a server share.
