April 14, 200917 yr I just added a new 1tb HDD to my sever and assigned it as my parity. The server boots up fine and starts the parity sync then after a few minutes it(the server) shuts down. The sync process gets about 3% of the way when this happens. I'm running version: 4.4.2 with bubbaraid. I post in hopes that someone can throw out a few options to why this is happening.
April 14, 200917 yr Most likely power or heat; faulty or insufficient power supply, or some component is getting too hot and shutting the system down. If you watch the console when this happens, are there any unusual messages that appear, just before it quits? If not, open the system up and feel for something very hot, and make sure all fans are working correctly. It is easy to dislodge something whenever you open the case to install something. For completeness, you can obtain a SMART report for the new drive, to verify there is nothing wrong with it. [small comment, since you are using v4.4.2, this should probably have been put into the v4.4 forum]
