April 18, 200917 yr I guess I don't understand split levels. I'm using Pro. I have a tv shows share that looks like this: TV Category (Action, Comedy, etc) Name of show (folder) show files. Some shows have season directories as well. I chose split level 3. I'm guessing that was a bad call because I've got shows under the TV share spread over all 6 of my drives divided by Category folders, i.e. all the drives have a TV directory, some have some categories and not others, and some categories have some show folders and not others. This is causing something of a problem in Mediaportal. Ideally I'd be fine with them all on just one drive (I use 1tb drives) for now. Couple questions: What's the idea split level I should use for future reference? How do I consolidate the shows? Is it as easy as logging into the shell via telnet and copying the show directories all to one drive? Do I need to re-calculate parity after I do that? Thanks for any advice.
April 19, 200917 yr For the discussions (some currently ongoing) and visual illustrations of various split levels, see the FAQ entry: What should I set 'Split Level' to? It looks to me that 2 would be right, possibly even 1, but 3 is definitely too high. Use mc to move the files between drives, see the Transferring Files Within the unRAID Server page. Parity is automatically maintained, you don't have to do anything about it.
April 19, 200917 yr Author Thanks! How did I miss UnRaid had Midnight Commander? That would have made things easier earlier this week
