Downloads on Cache drive aren't visable in Media Library

Featured Replies

I have sickbeard, couchpotato and Sab setup and they seem to be working good.  They download the tv shows and movies and post process them.  However, when trying to access the files using XBMC or Plex, they aren't visable until they are moved from the cache drive.  I have my TV Shows and Movies shares setup to use cache drive.  Also, I have my shares setup to use highwater and split level 2.  I am wondering if I should be putting all my Movies on one disk and all my TV Shows on another disk?  Would this be better for streaming?  Not sure what the advantage of having the directories split over multiple drives with different parts of the directories on separate disks.

I can't speak to XBMC, as I've moved to Plex and am not looking back.

But a manual Plex scan should be able to find the files waiting to be moved to a share that are still on the cache drive.

Assuming of course your looking for files at /mnt/user/ShareName and not /mnt/disk1/ShareName if you mount the disk directly the file would not appear yet as it's not actually been moved yet.

As to your second question about split levels and putting Movies on one disk and TV shows on another... Well that is personal preference. If you mount your share via the user comand even if the files in your TV folder are on two disks (1-10 on disk1 11-20 on disk2) they all will show up. That said, depending on your spindown settings and splitlevels this could result in a delay as you go from 10-11 if disk2 has to be spun up. This is more of an issue on different types of media, for example half of an album on one disk and half on another might be annoying.

Splitlevel sets where unRAID will break the files accross multiple disks... so the top level might be accross 3 disks, but the files in the 3rd level down is kept on one disk.
