Transferring to a new flash stick? [solved]

Featured Replies

Is it possible to transfer a purchased pro key to a new USB stick? I am still running on the original stick I purchased from Lime Tech ages ago (as in many years) and I wish to replace it to both increases performance and to be proactive in preventing a breakdown. I have already purchased a Adata UV131 USB 3.0 16GB stick (it seemed very solidly built) I am wanting to use, but I need an answer on how to go about transferring both the key and the OS itself to it.

P.S. Before anyone asks I do not have the new GUID yet, I am unsure how to get it without installing unraid on it...

It is possible. You must send an email to Limetech and explain the situation. They may then revoke your old license and issue a new one I nice you know the new device id. You get that by installing the trial version of unraid and seeing what it reports.

To find the GUID you simply install UnRAID on the device and boot from it.  Then on the main screen in the GUI just click on "Flash" and it will show the GUID.

As for "transferring" the license key ... you can't really do that, although Tom is pretty generous at providing replacing keys for new flash units when one fails.

In your case, I'd simply keep using your current flash drive as long as it's working, and buy a 2nd key for the new flash drive.    This will give you a good backup flash drive that you could use to experiment with a 2nd server, or simply store for a rainy day (i.e. when/if the first unit actually fails).    There's a current offer that allows you to buy an extra key for only $30 until the release of v6 final ... I'd simply take advantage of that.
