[Solved] Can't set Cache Drive

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am very new to Unraid and I have been trying to read up as much as I can on it but I am having a problem that I have not seen mentioned and searched for and could not find a result for which just might be me not searching the right terms.

I am trying to set a Cache Drive up on my array configuration and every time I select the drive from the drop down It highlights it and puts in the dropdown selection for a moment and then switches back to unassigned.

My array consists of:

1 WD 6 TB Green as Parity

2 WD 6 TB Green as Data

2 WD 4 TB Green as Data

1 Samsung EVO 250 GB for Cache

I am currently using version 6-b12.

Thanks,

Nate

I purchased a pro key as I eventually will be go up to 12 disks in this server.

The array mounts with the parity and 4 disks, so it appears to be seeing my registration key and it is in the process of syncing my parity.

Regards,

Nate

Zip up and post a full syslog that contains the time period where you tried adding the cache drive.

I about missed it but I found what I needed in the system log as I was getting ready to post it that led me to what the problem was.  Some how during my physical move of my server from the workbench to the location where it will be running the USB thumb drive got set to Read Only.  So it wasn't accepting my change to the Cache Drive.  The weird thing was it would appear to accept other changes I would make which made it hard to realize it was read-only.

Thanks for the attempts to help.  For others who have this problem in the future, check your system log to make sure there is no read-only errors.

Regards,

Nate
