January 4, 201511 yr Is there a good way to put the VMs on a drive outside the array? Last time I ran VMs (and docker files) on the cache drive, if the VMs (docker files) didn't shut down properly and caused corruption, the cache drive would be jacked up and cause the whole array to become unresponsive. I have an extra 1TB drive that's unassigned right now, I was thinking it may be best to dedicate it to VMs/Docker images, but not necessarily as a cache drive. Also, it seems like it combines the 1TB drive and the existing 320GB cache drive when I assign it to the array, so they appear as one. I guess that's normal behavior, I was just surprised when it happened.

This has the advantage (for me at least) that the drive says mounted even when the array is stopped.
