January 5, 201511 yr My unraid is having lots of problems, leading me to restart the unit all the time. While that issue isn't fixed yet, I'm currently booting under safe mode, doing troubleshooting, as assisted by a few helpful members here. While doing that, I want to watch xbmc, and fired it up. It probably detects my mysql, since if not, it will take xbmc a long time to boot. It fires up asap, though it does not see the "TV shows" and "Movies" tab I created, that are linked to unraid. I need to go to Videos, and select the folder manually. I tried this on 3 instances of XBMC, all on separate machines, experiencing the same thing. Does this mean my mysql is already corrupted? I installed mysql via unmenu
January 5, 201511 yr I'll take a stab at this one and try and help if I can .... I don't know if your MySQL Library is accessible / running given you're in safe mode. Could this all be because you are in Safe Mode (e.g. expecting things to run normally when you're troubleshooting another issue). What makes you think it is corrupted - are there any logs (MySQL or XBMC) to support that? Booting XBMC into debug mode would also help you isolate this. However I have experienced similar to what you are saying. If none of the above and it was me I'd be thinking that you are experiencing this because XBMC is trying to do a Library Update or network issues connecting to the MySQL DB or downloading fan art/info for new shows. I have noticed (especially on slower machines / android boxes) that while the update is running (e.g on boot - as lots of people do - which if you do you might want to switch off while issues are resolved) the library can become unavailable and takes you to the Videos menu even when you click on Movies or TV Shows Tab. As you say, you can still select the file you want manually accessing the share but just not through the library. Also, do you get any buffering from the shares when playing the files direct from the share? Network?
January 5, 201511 yr I think the danioj is correct, I doubt My SQL is running as you are in safe mode so no plugins have been loaded.
January 5, 201511 yr To really see if MySQL is accessable, you can download MySqlWorkbench onto your windows computer and try to connect to the database. If you have set up the sources on XBMC, then the Videos tab will have the file list regardless of whether or not it is connecting to the library or not. You might want to check that the type of content is checked off on your video sources (TV, Movies, etc) But, if you are in safe mode, then mysql is most likely NOT running
January 6, 201511 yr Author Thanks guys. I just naturally thought mysql is running, since the share is still accessible. I hope to get my array back to normal soon, so wouldn't deal with mysql workbench for now. Thank you for quick replies.
