Hi, Saarg.

Thanks for the tvheadend docker template. It's working great for me. (tvheadend unstable, extra parameters added separately)

CHBMB asked me to try out his RC4 OE MediaBuild kernel  drivers to see if it works with my Hauppauge HVR-2250. Though your MediaTreeCheck plugin detects the Media Tree and DVB adapter, tvheadend won't start. I get the following error in the log:

tvheadend: client.c:626: avahi_client_free: Assertion `client' failed.

He suggested I post this here as well in case it was something with the plugin.    I'll test the RC5 in the next day or two to see what happens with it.

Like I said, I'm currently using your docker template myself by adding my adapter firmare into bzroot and that is all that is required...I don't need a media tree build.

Thanks again.

Doug

So tvheadend is not crashing on your own modification and stock RC4, only CHBMB's OE RC4 media build?

If so, I think we have to blame him  ;D

Well, when you put it like that I say CHBMB is to blame, who let that idiot in this place anyway.  Sentence him to death by stoning....  ;D  Actually death by being stoned.... isn't that like being in college again?!

Actually Saarg, I was hoping you'd be able to give me a clue about what's going on by looking at the syslog.  So I'm to blame, but who's going to save the day and be the hero.  ;)

I tried here with the OE build, but it doesn't crash here.

Could you try to change the appdata folder to start from a clean config and if that doesn't work, delete the container and image and start all over fresh?

Is there anymore info in the log above what you posted?

Well, he's sent me a test version to try. I'll test when the family goes to sleep tonight and report back if the new version fixes things or borks them up even more. ;)

I cleaned out my appdata, wiped out the docker image, and started fresh. And CHBMB's RC5 drivers worked. So there's no blame to CHBMB...it goes to some other fool!  :-[

So... We blame tvheadend then  ;D

It most likely were a corrupt EPG database file or some other problem with the config that tvheadend choked on.

I also updated tvheadend to the latest version yesterday, so it also might have been a bug in tvheadend you managed to find.

I have had similar issues with some containers and it has always come back to perms on the appdata folder.  Running the newperms script against it has usually solved.

That is good to know about if it happens again to someone.
