January 15, 201511 yr I'm brand new to the forum and started to build my first unRAID server couple days ago using all new parts. I am running unRAID 5.0.6 with unMenu. I am in the process of pre-clearing my first drive (HGST 4TB Coolspin). So glad I ran the session in screen. It's completed Step 10 and is in the Post-Read Step, however the Post-Read is running at an awfully slow speed of 7.6MB/s. There are no other drives currently connected to the system other than the USB memory stick. The HGST drive is connected to the onboard Intel SATA3 port. The first 2 steps was running at an acceptable level of ~120MB/s, it wasn't until this last time that it's running slow. It has basically moved from 32% to 36% in 10 hours. Any suggestions what I should do? Not sure if the best thing to do now is to Ctrl-C and restart. System: unRAID v5.0.6 ASRock z97 Extreme6 8GB RAM 1x HGST Coolspin (4TB) Corsair X-750 syslog.txt
January 15, 201511 yr No idea why it should be running so slow! Normally I would expect this to be due to disk errors, but there are none showing up in the syslog. It might be worth trying a command like smartctl -a /dev/sdb to see if that shows anything of interest (you do not need to stop the pre-clear to run that conmand).
January 15, 201511 yr Author Thanks itimpi for your response. From the time of when I posted the original message to now (~4.5hrs) it is now up to 40%. Ugh! I have attached a copy of the results from the SMARTCTL. I believe there's no errors detected, but need someone to take another glimpse to make sure I'm not missing anything? Any suggestions? smartctl.txt
