January 16, 201511 yr My HP ml310e gen8 v2 server currently comes with 2GB of ECC ram. I've found a fairly good price on a 4GB stick of HP-approved ram. Are there any issues with ECC ram when mixing different module sizes (2GB and 4GB)? I assume it's the same as non-ecc as far as channels are concerned (only the first 2GB of the 4GB stick would be dual-channel). Speed is less of a concern over stability for me... I don't see anything in the manual stating one shouldn't... Anyone have experience mixing size modules with ECC ram? Thanks!
January 16, 201511 yr Author I'd say get it. Worst case you'd only have 4GB in a single module That's kind of what I was thinking... Though I hate adding another stick of almost-obsolete ram to the pile! Anyone interested in some 256MB modules of DDR??
