January 18, 201511 yr I am just rebuilding my parity drive after two successive power cuts with left it with errors. Its 4.7 UnRaid my question is, what is the general opinion around saving data to the box whilst this is being done. Is it going to cause more errors or have any sort of impact on the rebuild? or is it better to wait for the complete rebuild to conclude. Thanks Pete
January 18, 201511 yr The only impact it should have is that it will make BOTH the writing of the data and the parity check slower. I'd wait for the parity rebuild to complete before using the server at all -- for reads or writes. BTW, if you don't have a UPS, that should be your next purchase -- if your data is worth having a fault-tolerant server, it's certainly worth ensuring that the server has reliable power and always shuts down cleanly.
