UnRaid on/with Windows

Featured Replies

I have a general question to OS systems. If I get it right, UnRaid comes with it's own Linux on a stick.

Is it possible to use booth Windows (8.1) and UnRaid on the same Hardware at the same time. For instance Windows would run in the background or vice versa and I can access the services and I'm be able to use the raidspace under Windows?

Thanks in advance

The way you would do this is by setting up Windows as a virtual machine running under Linux. There are two virtual machine managers that come with unRAID, Xen and KVM. Look for their subforums for more information.

You can also run unRAID and Windows under ESXi, in essence both are Virtual machines. You will also see a subforum (unRAID as Guest) dedicated to this topic.
