Unable to create username with a dot "first.last"

i like to add a user with a dot in the name first.last however, i get the following error below.... From this wiki pages, dots are supported

User name

The name should only consist of the characters a-z, 0-9, - (dash), _ (underscore), and . (dot). Please do not use any uppercase letters.

I am looking to create the same type of user name, but am receiving the same error with Unraid 6.0.1. Any updates to this issue?
