February 12, 201511 yr Yes, versions later than 4.7 are going to have more drivers for the various chipsets out there. I've never had an issue with buying any particular motherboard, but you might want to post compatibility questions in the hardware forum
February 13, 201511 yr Author Thanks for all the help. Since I am going to have to buy new hardware, I am deciding to break up with unRaid and go out with a more easy going and expensive NAS, drobo. Sorry unRaid, its not you, its me. I just don't have time these days to mess around with this stuff. I realize this is a hardware issue and often times that is unavoidable. I am sure with enough time and effort and help from the kind members of this forum I could fix this issue, but that would take research, perhaps a few more trials of hardware swaps. At the end of the day I just want something plug and play. unraid / is / was was just a pure NAS box for me. I would have gone drobo back in the day but the performance was just not there, and now it is. Thanks again!
