February 23, 201511 yr And I'm back to not trusting newegg packaging again after I got my 2 6TB HGST NAS drives several days ago. I might buy a single drive from newegg but I will not buy multiple drives like this from them. They came in non retail packaging? No they (HGST 6TB drives) came in retail packaging in a box that had inadequate packaging around them but the retail packaging saved them. If I would have bought this 4 pack of drives it would have been in newegg OEM drive packaging and I would have been RMA'ing DOA drives at least one possibly all of them. Basically the retail boxes were put into the larger newegg box in different orientations (rotated 90 degrees from each other) with only the BIG bubble wrap (2 chambers) as filler to fill up the box - which it didn't there was allot of free space for the drives to move in the newegg box. If this had been OEM drives they would have been able to move around the box and collide with each other causing DOA drives that have nothing to do with manufacturing flaws. If newegg wants to use plastic bubble wrap they need to use small bubbles and WRAP the drives with it. Otherwise stick with what I dislike from a disposal perspective - peanuts!
February 23, 201511 yr why would a company the size of newegg continue to do this? its been an issue with them for quite a while. i even question amazons packaging with a lot of my shipments. I guess bestbuy serves a purpose for some things still these days. Plus (per my work IT guy) they will price match newegg or amazon on the same model items. might as well get it locally with less risk of damage (UPS and fedex both beat up packages, freight is usually likely to be handled in the same way). And if there is an issue, easy return
