How often do you check for updates to your plugins?

Featured Replies

Probably depends on what version of unRAID you're running. Recent v6 betas can be configured to send you emails for plugin updates, so I only check when I get an email telling me to. Since that is not a choice in the poll I abstain.

b14 can send plugin update emails? I missed that feature (goes hunting)

But I guess only updating when notified qualifies as "Never-ish"

I guess it means one does not check - but probably means the actual update happens very soon after the update becomes available.

Just looked at this again. You can set how often it checks for updates, so I let it check for me daily. Daily is my vote.

This whole thread brings up another thought.  A while ago I posted a feature request to be able to dismiss updates (for whatever reason)  http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=37900.0

I can potentially see where we can get into a situation where such and such plugin requires the base OS to be whatever.  But, there are situations where a user will not upgrade the OS for various reasons (beta 13 anyone?).  during the whole v5 run, I stayed at rc11 until 5.06 was released - it was the only version which actually worked good for me.

What's going to happen now when say APCUPSD requires rc1, but some users are going to stay on b12/14?  Are they going to be bugged daily to install it?

And that's just a plugin.  Are the users still on b12/b13 being nagged right now to install the update for Dynamix dated 2/24?  There have been some significant changes to both the base OS and the webUI in how they interact with each other to fix various bugs.  Are users on older versions going to run into problems?

I don't know a whole heck of a lot about the plugin system, but is there, or can it be added for dependency checks on it?
