Asus Maximus VII Gene - Can I install the LAN driver myself if I have it?

Featured Replies

I just bought this MOB because I was having a lot of sata issues with my ECS board. I can't get the LAN port to show up, so I'm assuming there is no driver support for it in the current build. There is a linux driver for it on the Intel site, but I wasn't sure if this was something we could do on our own? Believe me, I have searched in vain and been up all night trying to solve this issue myself, but I really need some input now. The port is the "Intel® Ethernet Connection I218-V". So I might get griped at for posting already under a similar post, but the OP had it in General Support... not in the right place and I am in a panic now. Please help!!

It should work fine, the MSI board I'm using has the same LAN chip...

I have the Maximus VII Gene in my workstation, I'll fire up unRAID on it this evening and see if it works.

Thanks man!! MUCH appreciated... I can fire up unRAID, but the NIC doesn't show up... I'm consoled in looking at the lines as it came up to see if anything umps out. I see too that you're running Unraid 6. I'm on 5.0.5. Think that matters?

It totally matters... There's no driver for it in unRAID 5. I can see my NIC fine if I fire up 6 (which I would rather not switch to), but 5 doesn't see it.

Yeah, sorry, I never got a chance to check it.  I'm only using unRAID6.  5's Intel drivers will likely be too old to support the recent Intel chips.
