May 18, 200917 yr I'm not sure if this is an issue with Nautilus,Ubuntu 9.04,or unraid. I have tried copying a movie file from my ubuntu workstation onto my unraid server share using ubuntu's default nautilus file browser. It's kind of hit and miss. More often than not the large file gets three quarters of the way finished and then it times out. Transfer speeds in general from the ubuntu machine seem slow. Any insights? Does anyone know an alternate way of transferring files other than nautilus in linux?
May 18, 200917 yr Please see the note on the Improving unRAID Performance page, about Access from Another Linux box.
May 18, 200917 yr The post with the solution most easily put into place is here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=1975.msg16810#msg16810 Or, if you are running a newer version of unRAID of 4.2-beta5 onward, you can create a new file in the config folder of your flash drive. It should be named: config/smb-extra.conf In it should be the following two lines: host msdfs = No msdfs root = No It will automatically be used when samba is re-started. To get it to be re-read without rebooting unRAID, you can just type at the command line: smbcontrol smbd reload-config Joe L.
May 18, 200917 yr I attached a smb-extra.conf file to this post, you can just download to your config folder on your flash drive and then either reboot, or use the smbcontrol command, or probably even stopping and re-starting the array would do it to re-read the files. Joe L.
May 20, 200917 yr Author Joe, Thanks for the file. Will this affect my windows transfers? I have a Windows 7 build 7100 laptop, and my fiancee's laptop is windows xp. I am running version 4.3.3. Is it recommended that I upgrade unRAID to the latest version?
