I switched over to the official Mosquitto container, but that didn't resolve the issue.
I realised that I had to go and reconfigure the HA MQTT integration and update the protocol version there. That resolved the issue, and I would bet I could have stayed with the spants container.

  • Hi all, As you are discovering, this docker is quite old and needs to be updated. If you can bear with me, please try the manual steps to get a later version of MQTT and solve permissions problem

  • Yep. This container template deletes the entire database on upgrade. Hope no-one was storing anything important.   appdata/couchdb directory is mapped to Container Path: /usr/local/var/lib/c

Ya....just go into the Node-Red Docker template and change the repository as I said above and hit apply.......That's all I had to do. Love it

I was just posting to reply that it did not resolve the issue by staying with the spants container, and just changing the protocol version in HA like kabadisha suggested.

Looks like my options are to be patient and hope for an update, or swap over to the official container in order to get protocol version 5 support.
