March 14, 201511 yr Hey guys, I just picked up a HP Microserver Gen 8, and though great, now I can make use of USB 3 to speed up transfer to/from my server. Having run a few tests though, that certainly isn't the case: Test file: 24,581,684KB MKV file Using a Sandisk Cruzer Extreme 3 64GB USB 3 stick (by no means is this a fully water tight test!) #1 - USB3 real 18m30.464s user 0m0.000s sys 0m28.870s #2 - USB3 real 13m10.431s user 0m2.270s sys 0m54.460s (not sure what happened with attempt 1 there) #3 - this time I switched to a USB2 port on the front real 12m55.545s user 0m0.180s sys 0m28.320s Hmm, so USB2 is actually quicker, or at least as good as USB3... which leads me to believe either Unraid doesn't support USB 3 or the USB 3 drivers in the kernel are complete pony. Any other ideas or user experiences here guys?
March 14, 201511 yr I certainly have used USB3 and got far better performance than using USB2. However that was using a HDD on a SATA->USB3 adapter, not trying to use a USB3 stick. Maybe the limiting factor is the USB3 stick that you have in some way?
March 14, 201511 yr Author It's definitely not the flash drive, it's a pro drive and can sustain ~250MB/sec reads and ~200MB/sec writes (it took less than 2mins to copy the same file to my laptop for example). I will check the bios, maybe the ports need to be activated or something.

I will check the bios, maybe the ports need to be activated or something. Go to the webgui and under your tools tab, click system devices. Then look under the pci devices and see if there is an xhci controller present there. If not, then usb 3 is not enabled on your bios.

March 19, 201511 yr If I got it correctly, USB 3.0 support was not there in unRAID before 6.x. What unRAID version your are running?
