Help with unRaid disk allocation strategy

Featured Replies

Check out my system...

whenever I add new files to the system right now, it seems to want to put it on disk3... yet disk 10 and disk 11 are completely empty...

can someone clarify how unraid determines where to put files ? I thought it uses half disk method whereby starts with largest free disk and uses that down by half and then uses the next largest disk and uses its capacity by half...etc...

some additional info, i am using high water strategy with 50,000,000 min free space. And I have split level set at 999.

My guess is that you recently added disks 10 and 11.  Prior to that it was working on filling up disk 3 to the 2nd level (3TB).  My other guess is that once disk 3 reaches 3TB full it will move on to fill up one of the new disks.  Of course I could be wrong.
