Copying files and move to new disk

Featured Replies

Okay here is something that makes me wonder. I have a share that is using 4 drives and using Allocation method: Fill Up.  It had filled up one drive and that was it. It's not moving onto the next drive.

How full is full? What are the min free space and split level for that share?

Is it failing to write to the share or what?

More information please.

You also need to mention what the share is set to for Split Level, and the path of the files you are trying to move.  Split Level can over-ride Allocation method and force files to a particular disk

Well the "disk1" is full 4tb used of 4tb

and it stopped transfer saying i was out of space

all drives are 4tb

Two things to check:

(1)  The split level (as noted above)

(2)  Both the share AND the Global share settings for Included and/or Excluded drives.    If you explicitly listed disk1 in the "Included" drives when you set up your array; but then didn't add the additional drives to the list when you added them, then they won't be used for your shares.    Unless you have a specific reason to explicitly list the drives, I'd just leave both the Includes and Excludes blank on the Global settings page [This will use ALL of your drives for shares and won't exclude any of them.]

Based on what you just posted, I suspect your Global Share settings list only Disk1 under Included disks.    Look on the Settings tab - Global Share Settings.

I also note that both the Include and exclude disk fields have values set.  It is recommended that you should only have values in one of these fields - use whichever is the most convenient to limit the share.  I know that having both of them set has caused problems in the past - not sure if that is still the case.

There is nothing inputted into those fields.

Included disk(s): "Field empty"

Excluded disk(s): "Field empty"

Interesting.

Remove the list from the share level "Includes" also -- i.e. delete all the entries so the include list is blank.

Then reboot your server ... and then see if it is working okay.

The min-free-spece needs a value. Typically it's set to twice the size of the largest file that you anticipate transferring to the server.

That was the trick. I had also upgraded to the 14b.
