March 21, 201511 yr I know this should be easy, but I can't find the setting. How can I set the threshold for disk temperature notifications? Presumably this is a per disk setting. Thanks for any help!
March 21, 201511 yr Author Thank you. Much appreciated! This setting is probably in the wrong place. It's the opposite of intuitive.
March 28, 201511 yr 40c is high, not melting, but high for most comfort levels. You should be looking at something in the low 30s.

Some studies show as much harm from running cool as from running hot. Current thinking is that 37c-46c is ideal, and 40c is just right for that range. http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Minimizing_Hard_Disk_Drive_Failure_and_Data_Loss/Environmental_Control
